Abstract:
The possible interactions between some anti-inflammatory drugs represented by tiaprofenic acid, and naproxen and certain anti-diatbetic drugs namely, insulin and glipizide on blood glucose. serum bilirubin, AST , ALT , T 3 ’ T 4 and testosterone levels after one and two weeks were investigated in the present work. The effects of the individial drugs as well as their combination were studied in normal and alloxan- diabetic animals, on the afforementioned parameters.Histopathological investigation on the rat testes was performed to explain the unexpected enlargement in the testes produced during the work. The main findings can be summarized as follows:In Normal Rats:1- Insulin, glipized, naproxen and their combination caused a significant hypoglycemic effect. Tiaprofenic acid slightly elevated serum glucose, level while it caused significant elevation when combined with insulin, and significant decrease when combined with glipizide.2 _ Insulin, glipizide and tiaprofenic acid significantly reduced serum bilirubin level after one and two weeks. Naproxen elevated serum bilirubin level significantly after the second week and significantly decreased it when combined with insulin or glipizide after one and two weeks.
