Abstract:
Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) is a vitamin limit is synthesized in nature exclusively by microorganisms. The vitamin B12 needs of animals are recovered by food intake or by absorption of vitamin B12 produced by intestinal microorganisms , Human, however, obtain vitamin B12 only from food. as the vitamin B12 synthesized by microorganisms in large intestinal tract cannot be assimilated .The current annual world production of vitamin B12 was estimated at about 10.000 Kg. Approximately 3500 Kg cyanocobalamin. 2000 Kg hydioxocohalamin, 1000 Kg, coenzyme B12 was added at rate of 10-15 mg per/ton of animal feed. - .Although vitamin B12 can he synthesized chemically its commercial production by this method is impractical as it requires 70 reaction steps. Thus of all other vitamin , riboflavin and vitamin B12 are the only vitamin that produced in significant quantity by fermentationVitamin B12 was first obtained commercially as a by prideful of streptomycetes fermentation for the production of antibiotics with a yield of I mg/1 As the demand for the vitamin B12 increased, several international pharmaceutical firms carried out its commercial production entirely by fermentation.
