Abstract:
Depending on the results of the present study, it could be concluded that:1- Alloxan-induced diabetes significantly decreased the bioavailability of digoxin.2- Coadministration of insulin as well as gliclazide significantly increased the bioavailability of digoxin in diabetic rats after 3, 6, 8 and 10 hours.3- Digoxin has no significant effect on blood glucose level. However it potentiated the action of insulin but partially antagonizes the action of gliclazide on blood glucose level.4- Coadministration of digoxin with insulin in diabetic rats for more than one week did not significantly increase serum digoxin level. Antidiabetics such as insulin and glic1azide might be used together with digoxin in the treatment of diabetic patients with congestive heart failure without any risk on bioavailability of digoxin.5- The effect of the studied drugs alone and their combinations on serum albumin, serum bilirubin, serum creatinine and serum total protein are variable and there is no solid correlation between these
