Effect of Diazepam & Anafranil on Amphetamine Induced-Psychosis

Abstract:
Psychotropic drugs including , one pf the psychostimulat namely amphetamine ( 0.27 mg/kg) , one of the major tranquilizers namely diazepam ( 0.36 mg/kg) and one of the tricycles antidepressants , namely , cloimoramine ( 1.4mg/kg) either individually or in combination were used in this work . Experimental rats were used and were given the drugs for one hours , 7 and 30 daysThe biochemical parameters which studied are brain tissue homogenate of monoamines ( norepinephrine , dopamine and serotoin ) , GABA , cAMP , brain and serum transaminases , The main findings of the investigation can be summarized as follows :1- Brain norcpinephrine :the total brain norepinephrine level increased after treatment with amphetamine or diazepam and their combination for one hour , but decreased later after 7 and 30 days of administration . Clomipramine induce significant reduction after 7 and 30 days , while the combined from therapy caused significant reduction along the three periods of administration .
