Instrumental Analysis of Certain Pharmaceutical Nitrogenous Compounds

In this work , some nitrogenous drugs were studied namely mequitazine, timolol, trazodone hydrochloride, ceftriaxone, piribedil and a mitriptyline hydrochloride.The aim of this study is to develop specific feasible and sensitive procedures for the assay of the previous drugs and the adaption of these procedures to be available for pharmaceutical dosage forms.The used pharmaceutical ingredients having different chemical structures and activities, this chemical structures and activities were summarized in table I .The thesis falls in 4 parts : -Part I :- this part demonstrates a theoretical basic background reveiew on the previous methods of assay of the cited drugs.Part II:- this part describes a simple spectrophotometric method based on the reaction between 3 – methyl benzothiazolin-2-one hydrozone (MBTH) and mequitazine trazodone hydrochloride and ceftraixone in pure form and in pharmaceutical preparations. Results obtained were compared with those of the official and reference methods.Part III:- this part demonstrates using of charge transfer complexation using o acceptor ( iodine ) and – acceptors(P-chloronilic acid and tetracyanoquinodimethane) the suggested methods based on determination of timolol, trazodone hydrochloride and piribedil in both pure forms and pharmaceutical formulations. Results obtained were compared with those of the official and reference methods.Part IV : - Determination of certain organonitrogenous compounds via complexation with some metals.• CHAPTER I :-Determination of the metal content of the complex with timolol and ceftriaxone by Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (A.A.S) in pure forms or in pharmaceutical formulations. Results obtained were compared with those of the official methods.
