Synthesis of Thiazolo [3,2-a]benzimidazola Derivatives of Potential Anatihypertensive Activity

Thiazolo[3,2-a]benzimidazole-Antihypertensive.The current thesis is prefaced by a brief account on hypertension , the antihypertensive activity and the chemistry of thiazolol[3,2-2]benzimidazoles.Because of the considerable hypotensive activity reported for certain 2,3-dihydrothiazolo[3,2-2]benzimidazole derivatives , it was of interest in the present investigation to synthesize certain thiazolo[3,2-2]benzimidazole derivatives in addition to some of their quaternary salts to be investigated as potential antihypertensive agents .2-Mercapto-5(6)-(un)substituted-benzimidazole , the key intermediates were synthesized by the reaction of the appropriate o-phenylenediamine with carbon disulfide in presence of potassium hydroxide .
