Effect of some Antidiabetic and thyotoxic drugs on some biochemical parameters in experimental Animals

SUMMARYThe effect of single daily doses of some oral hypoglycemic drugs (two suiionylureas, chlorpropamide and glipizide &- one biguanide , metformin) on some biochemical parameters: blood glucose, serum Iructosanune, glycaec hemoglobin (HbA1), triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4) were investigated.A total number of 54 adult male albino rats weighing about 200-250g. were used in this study. Rats were randomly divided into 3 groups (normal, diabetic and hyperthyroid-diabetic). Each group was divided into three equal subgroups (each of them given an antidiabetic drug of the previously mentioned before).Determination of the biochemical parameters was done before, tell days and 30 days after drugs adiuinistrationRegarding the effect of antidiabetic drugs on blood glucose level, the present investigation revealed that cnlorpropamide and ghpizide significantly decreased the blood glucose level in all groups (normal, diabetic and hyperthyroid-diabetic)On the other hand, the present study showed that admuustration of metformin produced Significant reduction III blood glucose level only
