Abstract:
yssopus officinalis L. (F. Labiatae), is one of he old medicinal plants known as hyssop, which was formerly sed by medical professioners as anticough, aiatirheumatio, laphoretic and vermifuge The jews used it for cleaning ared plaoes it was known by the Arabs as Zif a, ZCifa bis, Aihashesha Al ZaCfa, Hisi, Gasini and Ashnan Dawood.This study has been planned elucidate the character stics o± the Egyptian plant, in order to identify the plant od to investigate its active constituents with the aim of eterinining its therapeutic value.RT I - BOTANICAL STUDY OF HYSSOPUS OFFICINALIS L.hapter I — Macromorphology of Hyssopus officinaUs L.I_o±’ficinalis L. is a small bienneal shrub, indigenous to the MediterranDan and temporate regions0IThe Stein is quadrangular, 60 cm length, green in colour with a Violet tingue and pubescent, with fibrous fracture.The Leaf is linear to linear lanceolate, apex acute,base symmetric nd margin entire. The venation is pinnate reticulate. The leaf is pubescent, has papery texture and corn— poraceous aromatic odour.
