Abstract:
The farai).y Anacardiaceae is one of the most economical ortant medicinal families including numerous genera andAmong these species growzi in Egypt is 6chinu molle L.chinusnolle L. was widely cultivated,distributed andL introduced in Egypt as one of the ornamental plantsiced by Mohamed Aly Basha. The plant is characterisedL distinct flavour resembling that of black pepper andd this spice during World War II. It was reported toedjoinal and economical values.In the present work, a pharniacognostical study of the ent organs of Schinus niolle L. was carried out. This includes 2 parts ;PART— I1 L BPEQIOfl OF CHIMJ £TOL L.1NII UTR I - MACROMORPHOLOGY OF CHII11J6 ivIOLI L.Schinus 1n011e L. is an evergreen tree attaining 4 — 8 rs in height and — £4. meters in diameter. The plant has rect trunk with pendulous branches. The leaves are corn— id and the flowers are small aggregated in dense yellowis1 Which compound infloresoence. The fruits are drupe androse—red colour which possess a sweetish, spicy andpepper—like flavour.The main stem (trunk) is erect, solid, cylindrical monopodially branched, it reached up to 2 to 3 meters th and 10 to 30 cm in diameter. When young, it is nto purplish green in colour, smooth and covered with iuous material. The old one is woody, light brown andThe stem has fibrous fracture, a characteristicatic pepper—like odour and aromatic slightly bitteringent taste.
