A Study of Formulation and stabilty of Promethazine Hydrochloride

Determination of Promethazine Hydrochloride: the -methods for determination of promethazine hydrochloride were discussed. It was found that most of these methods are not suitable for the stability study of the drug, since the degradation products of ,the drug interfere with it when estimated according to these methods. It was necessary To find a method by which , the drug can be separated from its degradation products , and can be analyzed in minute amounts which are normally present in ointments and suppositories .A thin layer chromatography method was selected which was stated to afford sharp separation of the drug from its degradation products and can estimate minute amounts of the drug.
