Abstract:
Certain tryptophaa metabolites – the know essential amino acid – were studied in the 24 hrs urines of patients suffering from different types of malignancy , before and after giving a loading does of 6 g DL-Tryptophan , in a table form , each equal to 600 mg ( 10 tablets ) .The studied metabolites were : 5-OH-I.A.A, kynurenine , Hydroxy Kynurenine , Anthranilic acid , hydroxyl Anthranilic acid , kynurenic acid , estimated colourimetrically , fluorometrically , after separation by ion exchange chromatographic technique. After the study and discussion we found :- Significant increase in the total basal urinary excretion level , of these metabolites . In bladder cancer patients , the significant increase was found in four metabolites , in breast cancer and lymphomas in two , in the other types in three . The common increased metabolic in all these cases was hydroxyl . Anthranilic acid , 5-OH-I.A.A was in the lower limit of normal or decreased in some cases .
