Abstract:
The genous Hibiscus inciudes about two hundredspecies of which Hibiscus subdariffa L• forms a wide spread rnedicina1 plant,’ commonly used as folklore medicine and as a refreshing drink. Preliminary phyt ochemical screen in:The phytochemical screening of the different organs of Hibiscus eabdariffa L. revealed the presence of carbohydrates and/or glycosides, unnaturated sterols and/or triterpenes in all organs under investigation. ‘lavonoid compounds are present in all organs except seeds. Panama are only present in the cal.yx, leaves, stems and. flower. On the other hand, it estabiised the ubsence of crystalline and volat lie substances, curdenolides, saponinfi and nitrogenous base.
