Pityriasis versicolour is a superficial mycosis caused by various yeasts and lipophilic fungi of the genus Malassezia, with three dominant species : M. globosa , M. sympodialis and M. furfur. It is characterized by the presence of fine scaly patches or macules which may be hypochromic or hyperchromic .They are generally located on the upper aspects of the trunk , neck and arms.
