Abstract:
Pityriasis versicolour is a superficial mycosis caused by various yeasts and lipophilic fungi of the genus Malassezia, with three dominant species : M. globosa , M. sympodialis and M. furfur. It is characterized by the presence of fine scaly patches or macules which may be hypochromic or hyperchromic .They are generally located on the upper aspects of the trunk , neck and arms. It may extend to the face , groin , and even the thighs , whereas in children , the face is frequently involvedPityriasis versicolour has been reported worldwide but is predominant in tropical climates. It has been found in newborns and elderly patients , although it is more frequent in young adults and is equally distributed between men and women. The most important predisposing factors are heat , humidity , use of oily tanning lotions and corticosteroids Nitric oxide (NO) is a noxious unstable gas which is normally a byproduct of electric power stations and lightening. Nitric oxide was shown to be present in the human bodyparticipating in various functions such as suppression of pathogens, vasodilation and neurotransmission. Nitric oxide is also secreted on human skin by skin commensal bacteria which synthesize nitrate reductase enzyme that converts nitrate present in sweat into nitrite and subsequent reduction by acidification to liberate NONitric oxide is a small molecule made up of one atom each of nitrogen and oxygen. It is an uncharged molecule with an unpaired electron. This property makes it an ideal biological molecule that can diffuse freely across the membrane. It is known as a ”radical molecule” and is highly reactive. Its half life is 2 to 30 seconds. After spontaneously transmitting a signal, it decays into nitrate..
