Abstract:
Conservative surgery remains the main approach for management of uterine leiomyomas. As many women who suffer from myomas desire future childbearing or simply want to preserve their uterus. myomectomy is considered to be an important option for these women.Myomectomy through laparotomy is still the approach used in many centers worldwide; however bleeding is often a problem in this operation and indicating blood transfusion in up to 20% of women, and in 2% of women conversion to hysterectomy. Also bleeding can result in: intraoperative hypovolemic shock and postoperative anemia.Bilateral uterine artery ligation in comparison with intramyometrial injection of diluted epinephrine is a much more effective method in; reducing both intraoperative and postoperative blood loss, and shortening of total operative time during abdominal myomectomies.
