Abstract:
Since the tragedy of rubella epidemic in Australia in 1940 and the resulting fetal malformations from maternal infections; more interest and research were directed toward the teratogenic effect of viral diseases during pregnancy and many viruses were implicated as a causation of abortion, congenital malformation and disease of newborn. A lot of efforts were directed towards diagnosis, preventing and treating such troubles. Viralhepatitis, cytomegalovirus, herpes virus and others have come to the circle of light as major problems during pregnancy. Lastly, the dramatic pandemic of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome a popular subject in every medical periodical and also lay press found it an interesting subject that attracts readers.
