Baggy, puffy eyelids are viewed by most people as a sign of exhaustion and aging. Many individuals will go to great lengths to improve the appearance of their periorbital skin using cosmetics, fillers, botulinum toxin, chemical peels, dermabrasion, lasers, and surgical procedures. Baggy eyelids result from periorbital fat herniation, excessive eyelid skin ( blepharochalasis ) , and/or hypertrophied orbicularis muscle (Ablon and Rotunda ,2004). Although blepharoplasty remains the most popular and effective method for correction of unwanted localized fat deposits in lower eye lids , some patients object to or are unable to undergo surgery(Treacy and Goldberg, 2006).Large variety of compounds and formulations are currently used for injection lipolysis. The materials used included aminophylline, theophylline, caffeine, yohimbine, melilotus, β-agonists such as isoproterenol, sympathomimetics (ephedrine),carnitine , Ma Huang , calcium pyruvate , phosphatidylcholine (PPC),Sodium Deoxycholate (DC) , and even botulinum toxin . Formulations containing PPC/DC are the most popular and important ingredients used as lipolytic agents (Uygur et al ., 2008)..
