Endoscopic treatment of vesicoureteric reflux with different tissue-augmenting substances

Material and methods : Results after endoscopic treatment was reviewed by MEDLINE/PubMed search.Results : The short-term results are similar in the majority of series to those of open surgery.Conclusions:Many materials has been used for the endoscopic correction of VUR; although PTFE gave long-term high success rate its use was abandoned due to the fear of particle migration. The currently worldwide used materials for endoscopic treatment are Dx/HA , Vantris and Macroplastic . Despite short-term reported high success rate, there is a significant shortage of evidence-based literature on the long-term follow up after endoscopic correction of reflux utilizing these materials .other materials like collagen, and chondrocytes have all been evaluated as bulking agents. The key advantage of these agents is that they are not foreign materials , but the obvious disadvantage is the observed volume loss with high rate of recurrence ..
