Abstract:
.Aim of the work: to compare ASV and PS-SIMV ventilation modes in a trial to obtain the best MV and weaning strategy for COPD and head trauma patients. Patient andMethods: 48 Patients were classified into Group A included 24 COPD patients with a confirmed diagnosis ,divided equally into two subgroups , Patients in the first subgroup were ventilated with ASV mode until weaning, and the other subgroup was ventilated using PS-SIMV mode until weaning. Group B included 24 patients suffering from head trauma with normal lungs were divided equally into two subgroups Patients in the first subgroup were ventilated with ASV mode until weaning, and the other subgroup was ventilated using PS-SIMV mode until weaning. Duration of mechanical ventilation was the primary outcome and Secondary outcomes were weaning success rates, ABG and respiratory parameters.
