Abstract:
lamellar keratoplasty is an operation in which diseased corneal tissue is removed and replaced by donor corneal .it is defined as removal and replacement of less than the total thickness of the cornea.there are different types of lamellar keratoplasty either therapeutic to remove a certain corneal pathology or refractive to correct an error of refraction or tectonic in corneal thinning disorders to restore corneal thickness and maintain the integrity of the globe.dalk for patients with damage to the cornea surface, which happens to pithelial tissue or the bottom and in cases of damage to the connective tissue of the cornea, and cases of superficial corneal opacities, and also cases of congenital defects or corneal pterygium and coating the cornea.dalk for the treatment of myopia and cases of various complications of the cornea.there are several different ways to make the process of corneal grafting class, including the anterior and posterior surface some of which are undertaken without suture .dissection of the cornea can be performed manually or by instrument devices, and is complemented by a visco elastic substance or air or solution.the preoperative evaluation must be take visual acuity with snelleins charts, oculare examination, slitlamp, pachymetly, ultrasonic pachymetly, corneal maps.the results of dalk beter than pkp of corneal grafting in fewer complicationspostoperative complications include folds in the flap or total loss of the cap and epithelial in growth and some times infection. optical complications may occur over or under correction or irregular or regular astigmatism.
