Abstract:
Cholestasis is defined as a disorder of cholepoiesis and bile secretion as well as a mechanical or functional stoppage of the bile flow in intrahepatic or extrahepatic bile ducts .Cholestasis can occur both with and without jaundiceCholestasis is a clinically significant entity because of its association with significant morbidity and sometimes mortality. Our gaps in knowledge are obvious. We frequently do not understand the cause of the problem and even use terms such as idiopathic neonatal cholestasisThis study was done to establish the diagnostic value of clinical, biochemical, and imaging studies of cholestatic liver diseases, also demographic data, causes, way of presentation was recorded.This study was carried out on 70 patient with cholestatic liver diseases admitted to Zagazig university hospital from December 2009 to December 2010.patients divided into intra and extra hepatic groups.
