Abstract:
Although coronary artery disease (CAD) is a disease of middle and advanced age, there is an increased occurrence in the young population having serious consequences such as premature death and long term disability ( Perski et al., 1992).The prevalence of MS Is increasing alarmingly among adolescence and young adult. In this work we studied the relationship between the metabolic syndrome and premature coronary artery disease. This study comprised 200 subjects divided into three groupsGroup I: Premature coronary artery diseae group including 100 patients (male<46 years old and female<56 years old).Group II: Late onset coronary artery disease group include 50 patients (male≥46 years old and female≥56 years old).Group III: Control group including 50 healthy persons age and sex matched with group I .our findings point to the importance of the metabolic syndrome as a major cause of premature coronary artery disease without missing other causes like smoking and genetic role.
