Abstract:
in our study, we studied the relationship between vascular calcifications, cardiovascular risk factors especially (left ventricular mass index) and 25-hydroxyvitamin d3 [25(oh)d3] and 1,25-dihydroxy-vitamin d3 [1,25(oh)2 d3] serum levels in children on regular hemodialysis which is represented by several parameters.in our study, there was a deficiency of [25(oh)d3] and [1,25(oh)2d3] serum level.in our study, there was increased left ventricular mass index (lvmi) which indicates left ventricular hypertrophy.a significant positive correlation (+ve correlation) between left ventricular mass index (lvmi) and duration of dialysis was detected.there was a highly significant positive correlation between left ventricular mass index (lvmi), blood urea nitrogen and parathormone pth and significant positive correlation with creatinine.there was a significant negative correlation between left ventricular mass index (lvmi), hemoglobin and 25(oh) d3 and a highly significant negative with 1,25(oh)2 d3.in our study, no significant correlation between left ventricular mass index (lvmi), albumin, calcium, phosphorus, ferritin and iron.we found a significant negative correlation between [25(oh)d3] & [1,25(oh)2d3] serum level and parathormone.
