Abstract:
Vitiligo is an acquired depigmenting disorder characterized by the loss of melanocytes from the epidermis, it affects about 1-2% of the world’s population without sexual predilection.Vitiligo usually begins in childhood or young adulthood. However, at present pathogenesis of vitiligo is not fully understood there are several hypotheses on the pathogenesis of the disease, T cell infiltrates in vitiligo have long been overlooked because they are minute and can be found spanning the margin only in patients with progressive (active) disease.Desicussion:Our data support the role of cellular infiltrate (CD4+cells and CD8+ cells) playing a significant part in the destruction of melanocytes in vitiligo and also support and provide a better understanding of the inflammatory autoimmune reaction occurs as a very early event during the course of the disease. Conclusion:Treatment of the recipient site by Erbium: YAG laser and 5-FU before grafting is a promising technique for difficult to treated area may need more studying in a larger group of patients.
