Interleukin-13 receptor α1 gene polymorphism and il-13 blood level in atopic and non atopic egyptian children

Our study was carried out in both Medical Biochemistry and Pediatric departments, Faculty of Medicine, Zagazig University. It included one hundred subjects who were divided into four groups. Group I: It included 25 normal apparently healthy female children who were free from any diseases that interfere with this study. Group(II): comprised 25 female patients with atopic bronchial asthma. Group (III): comprised 25 female patients with non atopic bronchial asthma.Group (IV): comprised 25 female patients with allergic rhinitis All groups were subjected to the following: a) Total IgE level by ELISA. b) Serum IL-13 level by ELISA. c) Analysis of IL-13 receptor alpha 1 gene polymorphism (A1398G allele) by PCR according to (Heinzmann et al., 2000). Our results showed non significant association between IL-13 Rα1 (A+1398G) gene polymorphism and the susceptability of diseases in groups II, III and IV as compared to control group. Regarding serum IgE and IL-13 concentration, they significantly increased in groups II, IV as compared to control group. Also there were a significant increase of serum IgE and IL-13 levels in groups II, IV as compared to group III and there was no statistically significant difference between group III and control group, or between group II and group IV .
