Abstract:
• We highly recommend assessing all risk factors before and after donation.• Regular post donation follow up is mandatory for assessing body weight, blood pressure, and proteinuria and biochemical profile.Conclusions:• Living kidney donation is a safe procedure which carries a minimal risk in comparison with the heroic act and the major benefits for the transplant recipients.• The proper selection and the pre transplant assessment of the potential kidney donors together with post donation meticulous and regular (life long) follow up is strongly recommended , to identify short and long term risk factors or renal impairment; namely, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, proteinuria.• Pre-donation health education about kidney donation and a post-donation psychological support is strongly advised to assure them and clarify true sequel.
