Abstract:
Transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) of the urinary bladder is the second most common malignancy of the genitourinary tract, and the second most common cause of death among genitourinary tumors in USA. In men it is the fourth most common cancer after prostate, lung, colorectal cancer accounting for 6,6% of all cancer cases. In women it is the ninth most common cancer accounting for 2,4%of all cancer cases.(Jemal et al., 2005).In Egypt, non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) comprise 20-30 % of bladder tumors at initial presentation (Shoukry et al., 1988). However , the increasing incidence of transitional cell carcinoma bladder carcinoma in Egypt in recent years can be attributed to a change of bladder carcinogenic mechanisms in the last years , another possible cause is the increasing use of urinary cytology and cystoscopy for early detection of suspected cases, these factors have led to an increasing incidence of transitional cell carcinoma of which the papillary type is the dominant one (Ali-El-Dein et al .,1997) .
