Abstract:
Injection is one of the most common health care procedures of treatment. Each year at least 16 billion injections are administered in developing and transitional countries. The vast majority, about 95% of injections are given in curative care. Immunization accounts for around 3% of all injections, while the remainder of injections for other curative indications and for transfusion of blood.Nine out of ten patients presenting to a primary healthcare units are receiving an injection, and over 70% of them are unnecessary or could be given in an oral formulation.Better communication between patients and providers can clarify these types of misunderstandings and help to reduce injection overuse .
