Abstract:
The Anterior Cruciate Ligament consists of two separate and functionally distinct anatomic bundles (the anteromedial (AM) and the posterolateral (PL) bundles),these bundles demonstrate clearly different biomechanical properties and tensioning patterns with varying degrees of knee flexion, the AM and PL bundles comprise relatively equal proportions of the overall ligament insertion on both the femoral and tibial footprints, Both bundles provide significant contributes to the stability of the knee in response to combined rotatory loads. An anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture is one of the most common knee injuries in sports. Unlike many tendons and ligaments, a mid-substance ACL tear cannot heal and the manifestation is moderate to severe disability with ”giving way” episodes in activities of daily living, especially during sporting activities, further, it can cause injuries to other soft tissues in and around the knee, particularly the menisci, and lead to early onset osteoarthritis. Congenital anomalies of the hand may be associated with other anomalies or syndromes affecting the body and treatment must be directed to whole body systems to get the best resultsThere is a wide spectrum of methods of treatment of congenital abnormalities of the hand and as it was mentioned, almost every case has its own line of treatment. Conservative treatment is the simplest and may be the only method in some cases. The importance of orthotic treatment is increasing especially in cases where surgical intervention is ruled out. The advances of technology and development of advanced prostheses regained hope to some hopeless cases. still surgical intervention is one of the most important methods of treatment either by correction or by reconstruction..
