Abstract:
To evaluate the diagnostic value of serum endoglin levels inhepatocellular carcinoma patients with underlying cirrhosis and to correlateit with other prognostic markers of hepatocellular carcinoma. In hepatocellular carcinoma, preferential expression of endoglin onendothelial cells of the tumor vasculature versus neoplastic cells, has ledto the suggestion that it originates from the neovasculature and plays animportant role in angiogenesis. Its soluble form is highly elevated inserum of HCC patients. The aim of our study was to evaluate the diagnostic value of serumendoglin levels in hepatocellular carcinoma patients and to correlate itwith other prognostic markers of hepatocellular carcinoma.
