Abstract:
Urocortin 1 (Ucn 1), Ucn 2 and Ucn 3 are three mammalian CRF-like peptides have been identified. Ucn 1 has a high affinity for CRF1 and CRF2 receptor families. However, Ucn 2 and Ucn 3 show selective CRF2 affinity. The secretion of Ucn 1 in the seminal fluid and the expressions of Ucn 1, Ucn 2 and CRF2 receptors at separate locations in male reproductive system suggesting that urocortins might play a role in the regulation of male reproductive physiology.Aim: Delineate the possible effects of urocortins on male genital tract motility.Material & Methods: The present work had been carried out on 70 adult male albino rats and 25 adult male New Zealand white rabbits. The animals were divided into six equal groups where the effects of Ucn 1 & Ucn 2 on motility of isolated muscle strips from vas deferens and seminal vesicles of adult albino rats and adult rabbit corpora cavernosa were studied.
