SOLID TUMORS AMONG CHILDREN ADMITTED IN ZAGAZIG UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL: RETROSPECTIVE STUDY

AbstractThe study of incidence patterns and survival rates in childhood malignancies is important in assisting the planning of treatment centers and in gaining clues about the etiology.Because there were only few reports about childhood cancer survival in our country, a retrospective study of childhood solid tumors and lymphomas at Oncology unit of Pediatric Department, Zagazig University Hospital in last five years (January 2004 to December 2008) was carried out. The medical records of all patients were reviewed for demographic, clinical and laboratory data, management and final outcome. The number of the patients during this retrograde study was 155 cases with missing 26 cases due to incomplete data (management and final outcomes).Their age ranged between 2 month and 16 years. Clinical data of each patient were collected, a standardized data abstraction form was designed to captureappropriate information.
