Abstract:
th Degenerative lumbar scoliosis is a lateral deviation of the thoracolumbar or lumbar spine that develops after the 4or 5thdecade in patients with no history of scoliosis. Patients present with complaints ranging from debilitating back and lower extremity pain with spinal imbalance to incidental findings on x-ray. Surgery is only an option when the non-surgical measures have no effect or do not have a prospect of any long-term help. However, it carries a high risk of morbidity and some risk of mortality. Complications are correlated with old age, medical comorbidities, increased blood loss, and the number of levels fused.
