Bacteriological study on acinetobacter species as nosocomial pathogens in Zagazig University hospitals

This study aimed to evaluate the role of Acinetobacter spp. as nosocomial pathogens in Zagazig University hospitals including methods of identification, the prevalence in clinical and environmental samples, risk factors for acquisition of Acinetobacter and their antibiotic susceptibility patterns. They were identified by conventional methods and API 20NE. PCR was used to identify Acinetobacter baumannii by detection of bla OXA -51 like gene which is intrinsic to this speciesKey words: A. baumannii – nosocomial- multi-drug resistant- API 20NE PCR- bla OXA -51 like gene.
