CYSTATIN C AS AN EARLY MARKER FOR DIABETIC NEPHROPATHY IN TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS

The aim of our study is to evaluate admission of cystatin C as early marker of diabetic nephropathy and its correlation with serum creatinine and with creatinine clearance in type 2 diabetic patients.To achieve such target we studied 4 subject groups:Group 1: 20 healthy persons.Group 2: 20 patients with type 2 DM with normoalbuminuria.Group 3: 20 patients with type 2 DM with microalbuminuria.Group 4: 20 patients with type 2 DM with macroalbuminuria.In all studied groups patients with evidence of infection were excluded from the study as well as patients with liver cell failure. Also malignancies, thyroid diseases and heart failure were reasons for exclusion from the study.
