A study of some risk factors of protein energy malnutrition (pem) among preschool children 1-4 years old) in Zagazig university hospital

Protein–energy malnutrition (PEM) is a major health problem in the tropical and subtropical regions of the world (Akayam 2007). PEM is the most widely prevalent form of malnutrition among children (Ghosh and shah, 2004).In Egypt the incidence of PEM was found to be 16.5% (Beharman, 2004). Many risk factors are incriminated for the occurrence of PEM and some of them are preventable. So, it is important to study the predisposing risk factors and the current pattern of the disease.The aim of this work is to study some risk factors of protein energy malnutrition among preschool children in Zagazig University Hospital.
