Abstract:
The aims of good management should include early diagnosis of epilepsy and concomitant impairments, treatment that achieved complete seizure control and functional rehabilitation and prevention of any additional cerebral damage. Meeting of these aims may help to prevent developmental disabilities during childhood or adolescence, accelerated cognitive decline in adults, psychosocial decline and stigmatizationTemporal lobe epilepsy patients should be examined by special MRI protocol for diagnosis of different pathologies which affect temporal lobe especially hippocampal sclerosis.2- Physicians treating epilepsy should be alert for cognitive effects of TLE, giving an ear to the patient’s complains.3- Introduction and validation of computer-neuropsychological tests batteries is advised for better evaluation and scoring of intellectual abilities .4- Psychological interventions should to be made routinely as part of the overall management plan of TLE as neuropsychological consequences may for some patients be as disabling as the seizures themselves.
