Abstract:
Nephrocalcinosis is a renal parenchymal calcification. It affects all age groups. In neonates, it used to be linked to prolonged use of furosemide, as for cases of BPD. Recent studies have linked nephrocalcinosis with many other pathological characterized by Hypercalcemia, Hypercalciuria, and Hyperoxaluria. However, the precise pathophysiology and the definite etiology of many other pathological conditions associated with NC, still unknown. In neonate group, the incidence of nephrocalcinosis is high, particularly in preterm group. In this study, we tried to evaluate the incidence and the possible etiological factors laying behind developing nephrocalcinosis in this age group.
