SURGICAL MANAGEMENT OF PRESBYOPIA

Around 45 years of age, an age related decrease in accommodative amplitude begins to be expressed symptomatically an occurrence which is called presbyopia.Presbyopia can be corrected by many modalities like monovision using conductive keratoplasty, pseudophakic monovision or by lasik monovision.Presbyopia can also be corrected by using multifocal IOL or multifocal cornea by lasik ( presbylasik ).Sclaeral expansion procedure with implantation of scleral band segment is thought to increase accommodative amplitude.But accommodative IOL are promising as they are more physiological dynamic and have a fewer side effects hence they are the future .
