Abstract:
Eosinophils are granule-containing cells that arise principally in the bone marrow . They are 8 mm indiameter and their nuclei are usually bilobed.A number of studies have demonestrated the capacity of the human eosinophil to synthesize and elaborate a number of cytokines.Eosinophilic Esophagitis is a disorder in which eosinophils infiltrate the superficial mucosa of the eosophagus. The diagnosis of eosinophilic esophagitis is dependent on eosinophilic infiltration of the squamous epitheliumThe important feature in the case of EG is the extremely high eosinophil count in the peripheral blood, ascitic fluid, and the subserosal and muscular wall of the gastric antrum and proximal duodenum.Eosinophilic lung diseases encompass a heterogenous spectrum of lung disorders defined by increased eosinophils in blood and/or tissue.
