Abstract:
Orthosis is an external apparatus used to restrict or assist movement by supporting, aligning and protecting body parts. Orthotics can enhance the function of movable body regions and prevent or correct deformity while prosthesis means a medical device used to replace a missing appendage or extenal body part including an artificial limb, hand or foot. Automation technology is available to help practitioner improve effiency in design and fabrication as well as reducing invasiveness of orthotic measurement of the patient. The development of computer aided designing (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) of orthosis in less time, can be done, minimize pain for the patient and more accurate, they used help design and fabricate models from which prostheses and orthoses are produced, measurement of models can be scanned by laser, these informations describe the size and shape of the limb allows the prosthesist\ orthosist to design the device for the patient by using computer. Now the design can be downloaded to an automated carver to make the orthosis or prosthesis .Robotic technology is a new technology helping patient on moving material, parts, tools, or specialized devices through various programmed motions for performance of a variety of tasks. Also the development of new materials for fabrication of orthoses &prostheses is a great effect of the new technology, as these materials can increase comfort for patient, reduce weight and increasing strength and
