Abstract:
Lips provide an entrance to the oral cavity and are prominently placed in the center of the face. They help to manipulate the ingested food into the oral cavity and involved with speech articulation and communication, reflect sexuality, and are important in identifying the facial features. Any abnormality is easily noticeable and a potential source of embarrassment. Diagnosis and treatment of lip abnormalities is important, not only to prevent disease morbidity and mortality, but also to restore social acceptance and self-esteem.Lesions of the lip can be disfiguring and are of aesthetic concern to patient. Some lesions involve the lip alone but others may be seen in association with lesions in oral mucosa, on other mucosae (genital, ocular), on the skin or else where.The aim of this work is to review the dermatological diseases of lips, their differential diagnosis and their importance on reflecting the systemic disorders, dermatologic, and localized diseases. In cases of sarcoidosis, pulmonary alveolar proteinosis and in drainage of lung abscess.3. Mediastinal lesions:It may be used in evacuation of mediastinal cysts avoiding the need for surgery.Although therapeutic bronchoscopy can be used successfully in the above mentioned great and critical indications , it still earns new lands and new roles in interventional medicine. It has few disadvantages and contraindications.
