Abstract:
The corpus callosum is the largest white matter tract in the brain that connects the two cerebral hemispheres.MRI able to image sagittal, axial and coronal planes directly.Congenital lesions of CC occur alone or with associated with anomalies. MRI is an excellent method for detection of associated anomalies.Corpus callosum is known to be relatively resistant to ischemia. Ischemic lesions are usually central in CC, upper and lower margins are rarely involved. MRI can detect signs of infarct in the hyper-acute stage of the stroke.Diffuse axonal injuries are seen usually in the CC and are most commonly observed within the posterior body and splenium.
