Abstract:
To focus on the importance of the trephine bone marrow biopsy in the diagnosis, staging and follow up of cases of non Hodgkin’s lymphoma.The trephine bone marrow biopsy is an integral part of the diagnostic work-up of patients with malignant lymphoma. In most instances, BM biopsy is performed for staging or follow-up purposes, but in a significant minority of cases, BM examination serves as a means for primary diagnosis.A trephine biopsy of the bone marrow is usually most easily carried out on the posterior superior iliac spine; various needle designs are satisfactory including Jamshidi and Islam needles. A large biopsy is particularly important if there is a possibility
