Abstract:
Nanomedicine is a new medical technology and it represents one of the applications of nanotechnology in the field of medicine. Nanotechnology is the manufacturing machines at the scale of a nanometer or nano-scale (nanometer = 10-9 meter). It is a new technology which is already present in many parts of industry and medicine.Nanomedicine is the application of nanotechnology to medicine. It is the process of diagnosing, treating, preventing disease and improving human health using molecular tools. So, researchers found that nanomedicine can solve many important medical problems by using simple nanodevices. Such devices can be manufactured today by the interaction of nanostructured materials with biological systems. In the longer term, perhaps 10-20 years from today, nanorobots may join the medical armamentarium and give physicians the most potent tools to conquer human diseases and aging.Medical nanodevices include: quantum dots, carbon nanotubes, nanopores, nanoshells and smart drugs.Nanomedicine, as anew technology, is still under experimental and research studies. But research results in different medical fields are promising. Examples of these fields include: tissue regeneration, drug delivery, in neurology, management of cancer and diabetes and the future nanorobotics. Research studies have proved that, if this technology has been applied, it will make a revolution in the medical field as regards to diagnostic and therapeutic aspects.
