Abstract:
The aim of this work was to measure the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) concentrations in the serum and synovial fluid from patients with rheumatoid arthritis and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis to know if it has a role in the pathogenesis of these diseases; and to correlate it with clinical and laboratory parameters of disease activity, thereafter, the potential of VEGF to predict disease outcome will be evaluated. This study was conducted on twenty five RA patients, twenty five JRA patients, and twenty age and sex matched apparently healthy subjects. The patients were recruited from the out-patient clinic of the Rheumatology & Rehabilitation department of Zagazig University Hospitals.
