Abstract:
To study the expression of CK19 and p21WAF/CIP1 immunohistochemical markers in papillary thyroid carcinoma in relation to other thyroid lesions and to detect the potential for using them in verifying the diagnosis, confirming the subtypes and assessing the prognostic outcome of thyroid papillary carcinoma. To study the expression of CK19, P21 (WAF) in papillary thyroid carcinoma in relation to other thyroid lesions and to detect the potential for using them in verifying the diagnosis, confirming the subtypes and assessing the prognostic outcome of thyroid papillary carcinoma.Material and Methods: This study included 29 cases of papillary thyroid carcinoma 15 cases were of follicular variant and 14 cases were classic papillary carcinoma, 9 cases follicular carcinoma (4 cases were miminally invasive and 5 cases were widely invasive). The age incidence of all thyroid lesions ranged from 16-67 years and about 78% of cases were female, 50% of our specimens obtained by total thyroidectomy.
