Abstract:
Fever of unknown origin is defined as any febrile illness which remained undiagnosed for longer than three week in spite of active out-patient evaluation or for longer than one week with routine inpatient investigations. The general management of patients with FUO includes hospital admission and wise use of antipyretics. Rarel, therapeutic trials with antibiotics may be used for immunocompromized or gravely ill patients. Antibiotics should be as specific as possible.
