Abstract:
Dermatological problems manifesting as primary and secondary cutaneous complaints, constitute at least 30% of all outpatient visits to a pediatrician. Also 30% of all visits to a dermatologists involve patients of pediatric age group.The incidence of many skin diseases peak in adulthood, and these disorders may be difficult to recognize when they do present in childhood. Their clinical features may be distinct in pediatric patients, and they may be managed differently in children as compared to adults. Therefore, it is important that dermatologists are able to identify ”adult skin” disease in the pediatric patient.Aim of the work:This review will highlights some of the key advances of photosensitivity disorders in children and some of common pruritic diseases such as atopic dermatitis, scabies and pediculosis.For better understanding of these disorders/diseases in trial to manage them properly as early as possible to avoid their morbidity/ mortality.Review:Photosensitivity disorders are rare and sometimes misdiagnosed, because various symptoms and signs mimic other diseases.On the other hand, pruritus is a common symptom in children accompanying common skin diseases such as, atopic dermatitis, scabies and pediculosis.Summary & Conclusion:In conclusion, diagnosis of some of the common/serious dermatological diseases of childhood depends mainly on the clinical picture of each disease/disorder. A dermatologist’s consultation is essential in such cases for specific instructions and counseling. Early diagnosis and treatment of these diseases/disorders improves morbidity/mortality in these cases.
