Abstract:
Aim of the present study is to study the presence of microalbuminuria in the general population and its effect on renal function.In this study 500 healthy blood donors (age range 17-58) were included.They were classified into 3 main groups:-A- Group I (Control group):This group included healthy volunteers of blood donation. They were 383 persons, 333 males and 50 females.B-Group II (The microalbuminuric group):It included 67 persons, 6 females and 61 males, with no albumin in simple urine analysis but microalbuminuria was detected in a spot collection of a fresh morning urine sample positive.C-Group III (The proteinuric group):It included 50 persons, 4 females and 46 males, with proteinuria in simple urine analysis .All participants were subjected to the following:-1- Thorough history taking2- Complete clinical examination3- Routine investigations including:-*Complete blood count. * Blood groupe * Blood glucose.*Liver function tests.*Kidney function tests.*Lipid profile. *CRP(quantitative). *Uric acid. *ESR. *Urine analysis for protein by urine strips. * abdominal ultrasonography.4-Special investigations including:-*Estimation of urinary albumin(microalbuminuria).the Results show that Microalbuminuria was present among 13.4 % and protienuria was present among 10.0 % of healthy blood donors.
