Subacromial impingement syndrnme is a common problem that causespain in the anterosuperior part nf the shnulder. The etinlogy can be eitberextrinsic nr intrinsic. Non-operative treatment is often successful;however, if symptoms persist for more than six months, operativetreatment with either open or artbroscopic acromioplasty may beindicated. Botb of these procedures have been associated with a highpercentage of successful results and a low rate of complications.
